Pets & Animal in Disaster:

www.Noahswish.org  Please note:  According to a news article on Sunday, April 15, 2007, this group has temporarily shut down amid allegations of financial irregularities and a state investigation into the use of funds raised in connection with their services to rescued pets in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Terri Crisp, reportedly the founder of Noah's Wish, stated she is "confident" investigators will find no intentional wrongdoing.  Her stance is that they were overwhelmed with a "flood" of donations and also needs so great that for a while proper documentation lagged.  Crisp was reportedly removed as executive director of the agency on March 28, and the article also noted that several board members had also resigned.

Disaster Relief Agencies:

We take a chance and reveal one of our own biases here.  There are so many good organizations, and we support many of them.  Based on our experience regarding the consistency and effectiveness of response to many differing types of locations and disasters, one of our favorites is the Salvation Army.  Here is the link:

Another one that is often overlooked serves the needs of the heroes that no crisis can be managed without.  The brave people in the fire service not only often risk life and limb and serve under extreme hardship, but often do so when they don't even know their own families are safe.  This organization helps to meet needs within the fire service families:
