Flashlights are more than merely useful when you find yourself
suddenly in the dark. If it's just a matter
of the power going out, and you are at home, you can probably stay fairly calm and find a flashlight without too much
trouble. If you bump yourself against some furniture or a wall, it usually isn't more serious than a bruise.
However, if you are thrown into the dark because of an earthquake, bombing or other problem,
even a few steps can be hazardous unless you can see. Not only could there be broken glass and fallen objects on the
floor, they could be hanging from the ceiling, etc. And you may not always be at home ..... what if you were at the
movies, in a restaurant, grocery store, a mall, the gym, ...... or even a Home Depot? In these instances, properly
rated emergency lights may make the all the difference between safety and injury.

Spark-free Lightsticks
The most common type of lightstick for emergency use is a 12-hour lightstick, which
obviously provides light for a much longer interval than the 4-to-6-hour lightsticks typically in use at theme parks and entertainment
venues.
We use only American-made lightsticks that are spark-free, waterproof and virtually
unbreakable. Furthermore, our lightsticks NOW HAVE A FULL-FIVE-YEAR shelf life, thus matching the extended shelf life
of the Coast Guard Approved food and water products.
Also, unlike imported versions, our American-made lightsticks are phthalate free
and are safe for the environment.
Because they are spark-free, they are an excellent choice as a first use light, especially
inside structures when there may be leaking natural gas. Because they are waterproof, they will perform for you even
if fire sprinklers are going off, or plumbing or sewer pipes break between floors in a high-rise, or you're simply out in
the rain.
They cost less than the typical outside cost of even a set of batteries for one flashlight.
They are compact and easy to store in multiple locations.
To use them, remove the outer wrap, and slightly bend the tube. This cracks
the chemical pouches inside, which mix to produce the light. You may want to give the tube a good shake, for a good
mix.
Lightsticks should be in every car kit, desk kit, bedroom, and at least one in a key
location in every room. It is essential that everyone who wishes to introduce as much calm as possible into an unstable
disaster setting choose them in the yellow color.
We also offer other styles of lightsticks, including 1-minute, 5-minute and 30-minute
high intensity, which are especially great for short evacuation passageways. Contact us for availability and pricing.
Retail price: 12-hour, spark-free, yellow lightstick, $2.00 each.
Bulk pricing: Discounting begins at 100 units. Please call for

Pelican VersaBrite - Hands-Free and Spark-Free!
This amazing light is only about the size of a small pager, but can produce
a 6,000 candlepower xeron laser beam for up to six hours on just two AA batteries.
To add to that, a combination of clip-on design points, and a swiveling head for the beam mean
this little powerhouse is useful in almost too many situations to list. It comes with it's own headstrap, but even without
a headstrap, it is easy to use as a headlamp by putting it on the bill of a baseball cap. Firefighters and police officers
love these on front pockets, for writing up accident notes on clipboards just in day-to-day use. In emergencies, people
can diaper babies, nail up plastic sheeting over broken windows, cook, sweep up and do a host of other duties that require
use both hands.... things that would be nearly impossible to do alone with just a regular flashlight. Broken down at
night on the freeway? It's a lot easier to fiddle under the hood or change a tire if you're not struggling to hold or
position a light.
This unit is MSHA-approved spark-free device and includes night vision disks and the first set
of batteries. You'll find this affordable and high quality light to be one of the most useful items in any car and every emergency
kit.
Retail price: $24.50 each.
Bulk pricing is related to quantity and starts at a minimum of five units. Please
contact us for specifics.
UCO Candlelier Lantern:
We do NOT recommend using any open-flamed device in the first few
days after an earthquake, or during wind-driven power outages and other hazardous situations. However, there can
be times when a power outage is simply a rolling blackout or other not-so-hazardous event. During such less dangerous
times, a candle lantern can provide a nice ambiance at low operating cost. The candles in this unit are 9-hour candles. There is a metal warming plate on top. If you
light all three candles, you can get small bubbles in a small cup or pan within about 5 minutes. It won't produce
a rolling boil but could be useful for a cup of instant soup or coffee, for instance. Just be careful not to overbalance
the container on the top. The pictured camp cup is not included with this item, and must be purchased separately (see
the link for Food and Food Equipment). Retail
price: Lantern, $30.00 each with one set of candles; One set of replacement 9-hour candles, $4.50 each. Bulk pricing: We have not yet
had a request for bulk pricing on this unique item, but would certainly consider it for five or more units. Please contact
us with your needs.

| AM-FM Radio Never Needs Batteries! |
Solar-dynamo radio:
This radio is a workhorse that essentially never needs batteries. It's powered with
available light through the solar panel, usually enough to provide continuous play. At night, it is powered by a built-in
hand crank to build up power before play. The optimum ratio is about three minutes of handcranking in order to store
up about 30 minutes of radio play.
Do NOT choose similar units with flashlights attached. That variety will pull down power
way too fast. If your light fails without warning, you could get hurt. If your radio stops it will only be a brief
annoyance, and usually the news after a disaster is so repetitive you probably won't have missed much!
This unit has a port for earphones (earphones not provided). Parents are advised to use
earphones, so that children are not constantly listening to a stream of bad news.
The radio also has the ability to accept 4 AA batteries, or a 9 volt charger (neither batteries
or charger are included), but those options are simply not needed. This radio is functional on the solar panel and hand
crank, and is compact and lightweight. It makes an excellent gift item!
Retail price: $ 27.00
Bulk pricing discounts are available at 10 units or more.

Spark-Free 2D Flashlight:
An ordinary flashlight can throw a spark in the presence of leaking gas,
and could be as dangerous as hitting a light switch in the aftermath of a serious earthquake.
Every bedroom should have some form of spark-free emergency light. A flashlight gives a
concentrated beam, while the lightstick gives a diffused area light that is not directional.
This flashlight has a very sturdy casing, a switch guard to prevent accidental triggering, and
carries the MSHA approval. It comes with extra-strength alkaline batteries which generally are showing an expected shelf-life
of around seven years. This is longer, of course, than the shelf-life of batteries available in most other retail locations.
In fact, since our battery prices are also more attractive, you should come to us to stock up
on your spare batteries, too!
Retail prices:
Rayovac Spark-Free Flashlight with batteries, $10.00 each
Extra-strength industrial alkaline D batteries, $1.25 each
Bulk pricing is sometimes available on the flashlights, but there are no discounts
currently available on the batteries. Contact us for further details.
Coleman LED Lantern:
Never use a gas or propane lantern in the aftermath
of an earthquake, and never use one inside any structure. In the latter case you can be overcome without
warning by carbon monoxide and may lose your life. This unit is battery-operated, using four D cells. The switch allows you to choose between low light, and maximum
light.
The unit provided
will normally be a Coleman, although other brands may be substituted if they are deemed equivalent, according to market conditions. Retail price: $40.00 including batteries. Bulk pricing: Potentially available depending on quantity desired.

| LED keychain light could save your life! |
PulsarII White LED Keychain Light:
If you're in a restaurant and glass implodes, light fixtures fall, fixtures topple and fly, and
the lights go out.......how will you see? Or have you ever come out of a brightly lit spot onto a dark street and nearly
tripped over a curb or parking berm? We know people who have unfortunately suffered terrible fractures from just such
a simple thing.
The one thing most adults almost always have with them is their key chain. This ultra-bright
white LED keychain light has up to 10,000 hours on it's bulb, and either a squeeze option or on/off switch for your convenience.
Without a doubt, every person should have one, as the most basic of safety items, both for
everyday use and unexpected emergencies. Remember this: when emergency hits a group of strangers, the one with
the working light becomes the leader. Made in the USA.
Retail price: $12.50 each
Bulk pricing starts with a minimum of 10 units. Please contact us for specifics.
Princeton VorTec Headlamp:
A quality headlamp is essential for search and rescue teams and of major benefit to almost anyone
who is recovering from a large disaster. This lamp is waterproof to 1000 feet, includes two pre-focused reflectors,
and has both a high output halogen and a long burn bulb.
It weighs only 8 ounces, and runs on 4 AA batteries (included). A soft drawstring fleece
storage bag is also included. Lifetime warranty, and made in the USA.
Retail price: $40.00 per unit.
Bulk pricing - five units or more- $35.00 per unit.
36-Hour Survival Candle:
Not every emergency is an earthquake or windstorm, which always raise special risks of fire.
In a rolling blackout or temporary power outage due to a mechanical failure or accident affecting local supply, candles may
provide another lighting option. Fire officials, though, remind everyone of some of the basics: use a wide base,
and low profile to lower risk of accidental toppling of the candle. That's just how this one is made. It's only
about 2" deep, and about 5" in circumference. It's contained in a metal can so the bottom is protected, and it is easy
to fully extinguish by replacing the lid.
This one has three wicks, and a few matches are also included. Just remember to avoid
use or be especially cautious if you have childen or pets that might be attracted to or knock over an open flame.
This is an economy choice to back-up those other spark-free items above. This item is being
discontinued soon, so stock up now!
Retail price: $5.00 each
Automated Power Interuption Light (APIL):
Everyone should keep an APIL in a socket in bathrooms, bedrooms, critical hallways and exiting areas.
When the power goes off for ANY reason, an APIL will automatically trigger an emergency beam into the room. This can
be crucial in avoiding injuries of many kinds, including perhaps keeping someone from slipping and falling when trying to
get out of a shower because the power just failed, or being caught immediately in a field of broken glass due to an earthquake.
It's also amazing how much comfort having a light is, in an emergency situation.
APILs can be removed from the socket during the emergency and used as a handheld flashlight. The current
model fits nicely in the palm of a hand. Call and order several now, before you need them!
