A graduate of the University of Southern California, Ms. Kelcy also holds multiple national-level
qualifications from FEMA, UCLA, American Red Cross and other credible sources specific to the field of emergency management. She is an award-winning Advanced Communicator Gold through Toastmasters International (TI), and a TI Competent
Leader. The Advanced Communicator Gold is the highest communication award level awarded by TI, a worldwide
organization. Always forward-thinking, Kelcy took her first FEMA training in Emergency Response to Terrorism
well prior to the terrorism attacks of 9-11-01. Her breadth of training
and experience is appropriate for many kinds of emergencies, and is not limited to earthquake disasters.
Ms. Kelcy is an active
particiant in the Earthquake Country Alliance, and provides professional services to the Great California ShakeOut project.
She
has written curriculum for and trained over 1,000 FEMA workers in the aftermath of the Northridge earthquake. She also has had personal experience with response and recovery operations from an explosion
and fire in a high-rise workplace.
Frequently
sought by the media, Ms. Kelcy and her firm have been regularly featured on network television and radio and in many print
sources, & has personally authored well over 50 published articles.
In December 2006 she was honored, by the Emergency
Preparedness Commission for the County and cities of Los Angeles, for "exemplary work" in rendering exercise
design and support services related to modified full scale, public-private sector joint disaster exercise entitled
"Operation Senior Safety".
In January, 2006 she was awarded the Business Person of the Year by the Irwindale Chamber
of Commerce.
She received the 2003 Emergency Preparedness Award from the La Canada Chamber of Commerce.
In
2004. the City of Irwindale recognized her leadership in “Heartbeat for Irwindale.”.She has also received an award for exceptional
service from the Eaton Canyon Recovery Alliance for her expertise and assistance with recovery efforts from the Altadena firestorms
of 1993.
Ms. Kelcy is nationally
qualified in disaster care of children through Children's Disaster Services, and can be called to serve any where in the
U.S. or its territories, to give children priority and care following major disasters.
Her
career background, prior to founding Earthquake SOLUTIONS, included fourteen years in the legal field.
Ms. Kelcy represents
a broad spectrum of clients and customers, including public and private schools, government agencies, financial institutions,
national and international corporations, small businesses, law enforcement and fire services, hospital, medical
and residential care facilities, non-profits and faith-based organizations, people within special fields (such as in
the arts or movie industry, seismology, science, real estate or insurance), residential neighborhoods and communities,
and individuals and families.
